Opening Baxter's Playhouse has been a dream many years in the making. We are from right here in Gaston County and have been our whole lives. We love this area, the people who live here and their dogs. Together, Don and I have rescued over 10 animals and plan to continue rescuing and use our resources to help others do the same. We are passionate about these beautiful animals!

 As a family of four, we would always talk about this dream and how much this area needed a loving, fun and safe environment for dogs to socialize and get all of their energy out! Two years ago we decided to try a boarding facility in the area while we went on vacation.  We had rescued our beagle/hound mix, Baxter, a year earlier and knew that he just had too much energy to leave with our parents. Everything looked great online, we spoke with the owner, completed paperwork, and even put Baxter in daycare there for a few weeks before our trip to help him feel more comfortable while we were away. Without going into too much detail, it became a horrible experience very quickly. We began to get multiple phone calls that Baxter was experiencing separation anxiety and trying to escape. We were not given any options from the facility except to drive 5 hours back home and come pick him up. This along with a lot of thought, praying and hard work paved the road for Baxter's Playhouse!

Our goal here at Baxter's Playhouse is to help our community by providing a loving, exciting and playful environment for your dogs at doggy daycare and boarding. We want you to be able to go to work, vacation or just enjoy a day out on your own and know that your dog is happy, safe and in the best possible hands.

 We have 10,000 square feet of indoor play space and an outdoor fenced in area for play. Baxter's Playhouse has some of the largest kennels in the area for boarding to make sure your dog has plenty of room to feel at home. We offer daily daycare to everyone, even our dogs boarding here with us. Your fur babies will be out of their kennel all day running, socializing and exercising so that when we put them to bed at night, they are so tired that they go right to sleep instead of missing you. Don and I want them to be happy here. We want them to feel at home and loved and want to come back. That is our goal every day. 

We have a 24 hour security guard on the premises and multiple cameras in every room so that Don and I can watch to make sure everyone is calm and happy. In the event that one of our dogs are not resting and having trouble at night, we have a sleep room that Don or I can stay in and sleep next to your pet. Our promise to you is that they are comfortable and having fun whether they are in our daycare program or boarding with us. Thank you for trusting us with your four legged family member!
